Standing Up For Yourself

Life has the ability to overrun and completely overwhelm you.

It will take what it can from you and be relentless, unforgiving.

Encroaching in on your time, stealing your attention, draining your energy, your money.

Invading your space, crushing your spirit and taking your soul.

It will chew you up and spit you out if you let it.

Passivity or indifference in this case, is considered consent.

As long as you don’t put a halt to it, it will continue to bleed you dry.

Some things are yours to give and not for someone else to take away.

So it’s important then to stand up for yourself.

To establish boundaries,

To learn to say no,

Not to encroach on anyone else’s liberties, but simply to protect yours.

To draw the line somewhere and declare when enough is enough

Because if you stand for nothing, you’ll fall for anything

Develop the courage to stand up for yourself, because if you don’t –

Chances are, that no one else will.
