See It For What It Is

The first rule is to keep an untroubled spirit,

The second is to look things in the face and know them for what they are.

Emotions blur our eyes and cloud our judgments

We often project our own biases

And only see what we want to see

Keeping ourselves just distracted enough

So we never have to look ourself in the mirror or face up to reality.

But reality doesn’t care about how you feel

It just is.

And seeing things for what they are

As they are

Being able to see right through the bullshit

Is a super power in itself.

Because without that grasp on reality

You’re forever stuck in a deluded fantasy

And that might be OK, until one day it’s not.

Because reality doesn’t go away.

And just because you can’t or refuse to see it

It doesn’t mean it’s not there.
