Playing the Long Game

Attention spans are getting shorter and standards of living are getting higher

We want it all and we want it now.

We’ve forgotten what it feels like to go without

To make a sacrifice

To give something up now, for something more important in future.

We are short sighted

Caught playing the short game

Looking for short cuts

And quick returns

When the real value is in seeing the big picture

And in playing the long game.

If you want something that’s built to last

Something built on solid foundations

It’s going to take some time,

You can’t expect it all to happen right here, right now.

That’s not how it works

It’s all an illusion, created by a market intent on a quick sale.

A distortion of nature

Because in nature, it’s only when you plant the seed in fertile soil

And nurture it properly

That it will grow to bear fruit.
